You are absolutely correct! Unfortunately we are living in the last days
and ought to expect such persecution against the Church.
All sin begins with a thought, James 1:12-16. The continued deliberation
of such thoughts is what ultimately brings sin and therefore death.
Romans 1:17-32 demonstrates a pattern whereby a person refuses to
acknowledge the glory and power of God as clearly seen in creation. This
gradually begins a slippery slide deeper and deeper into degradation,
until ultimately God gives up on them. The account of Cain demonstrates
this clearly in that God spoke to Cain several times in order to attain
his repentance. However, Cain refused and God set a mark upon him.
The gay community wants to label this as a "hate crime" when in fact it
is an act of love, both on our part and that of God's part. God's laws,
including sexual sins, were constituted for humanity's protection, not
because He hated us or somehow desired to torment us with some sort of
diabolical scheme to deny us "pleasure". Moses refused to be called the
son of Pharaoh's daughter, though from the natural eye it seemed a good
thing to do for Moses; and yet from God's point of view Moses' refusal
benefited God's people. Hebrews 11:24-27. But humanity does not look at
it that way.
Having refused to acknowledge God's glory and power, fallen man then
proceeds to erect their own religion or god to quench his thirst for
that which he has forsaken. Next they proceed to persecute any and all
religions whose moral principles oppose their own diabolical positions.
Most all religions [Christianity included] have an established moral
sexual code. Christianity, as we know is not a religion, but a
relationship with the Living God. That is what they are attempting to
establish, on their own terms. They "want their cake (sin) and eat it
too." However, as you stated, "the two cannot co-exist".
