Genesis 1:1-19 Part 2



Genesis 1:9-19 Part 2
“And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called He the Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose sed is in itself, upon the Earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and the herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day (yom). And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven to divide the day (yom) from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days (yom) and years: and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of heaven to give light upon the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day (yom).”
Third Day (yom)
As we begin our next study we discover that God gathered the waters together allowing dry land to appear, and calling it earth and the gathered waters He called Seas. So this is the first account of earth’s physical existence. Now the earth has form—round. How do we know its shape? Isaiah 40:22 “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.”
Isaiah 40:21-25 is a mini treaty of the creation account and substantiates the Genesis account.
            It is the Genesis account of creation that not only confounds the “wise” but makes them turn vehemently against it thus concocting the theory of evolution. Notice said theory as opposed to account. To the unbeliever it is indeed a theory not an account. The theory of evolution cannot be proven as it would require exact replication of the beginning, where as the Genesis account needs no duplication, it must merely be observed and believed by faith. Read once again Psalm 19 1:-6.
Progression of Degradation:           
From this study of the Genesis account of creation we can see the importance of believing the account as recorded, for to do otherwise is to water down the entire Bible. Return to Romans 1:17-32: there is a succession of degradation recorded;
1.    God’s eternal power and Godhead are clearly seen in His creation.
2.    Those who choose not to believe the Genesis account are left without excuse.
3.    They knew God, but refused to glorify Him as God.
4.    They become vain and foolish hearted.
5.    In so doing they become fools all the while proclaiming to be wise.
6.    They fall into idolatry.
7.    Next God gives them up to the vile uncleaness of their heart.
8.    Next sexual perversion sets in.
9.    Then God gives them over to a reprobate mind. Meaning they are no able longer to judge right from wrong. Their conscience is seared with a hot iron rendering them unable to feel right from wrong.
10. They are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication etc. and become backbiters of God, despiteful, boasters, inventors of evil things, and disobedient to parents.
This is why it is so important to teach the children the creation account and not to gloss over it or neglect it. To neglect the Genesis account eventually leads to being disobedient to parents. For the whole creation account also establishes the basis for authority. If they can respect God, they will also respect their parents.
 But, how does it all begin?  Given the finiteness of the human mind I believe it is difficult for some to grasp the awesomeness of God’s power and ability to create such a wondrous work in such a brief period of time, six literal 24 hour days plus one day of rest. Man is accustomed to things being made over an extended period of time. This causes him to attempt to justify God’s work by other means. The fact that the grass and herbs were created with its seed within itself and the proven gestation period seemingly contradict nature and given that nature produces from the seed, not vise versa, adds to the dilemma. Man simply cannot that which is seemingly contrary to nature therefore man sets out to prove otherwise by simply adding time to the equation. What may have begun with adding thousands of years has gradually increased to hundreds of thousands, to millions, to multimillions, to billions and multibillions of years all attempting to prove a theory—evolution.
A tree is aged by the rings within, an animal is aged by the configuration of their teeth, the age of the earth is measured by the sedimentary layers and so on. All in an attempt to disprove the creation account.
In all fairness to the scientific community not all science is opposed to the creation account. In fact many work in conjunction with the Scriptures.
Not surprising that our children’ beliefs are challenged in the school systems across the country from pre-school thru college graduate school. Is it no wonder America is having so many issues with not respecting civil authority as well as parental and plus the epidemics of drugs and the sexual revolution?
Children must be educated in nature’s own classroom, lovingly escorted and tutored by parents and grandparents. They must be encouraged to experience God through His divine creation. They must witness God’s glory in the trees, grass, flowers and heavens. Tell them of God’s awesome creative power! Let them learn outside the four walls of the public classroom.
Importance of the Genesis account of creation
The creation account is vital for it is the foundation for:
·         Respect for authority. If a person learns the creation account they can more readily accept God’s authority.
·         The creation account also proclaims the existence of God. Psalm 19:1-6
·         Next in line is respect for parental authority.
·         And finally respect for human government and authority.
This is not to say that God is powerless to save an evolutionist, indeed He is, however, embracing the Genesis account, I believe, makes it easier for God to save them as they have already embraced His divine power and authority.
